Starting a Business While Still Working Full Time?

ꜱᴛᴀʀᴛɪɴɢ ᴀ ʙᴜꜱɪɴᴇꜱꜱ ᴡʜɪʟᴇ ꜱᴛɪʟʟ ᴡᴏʀᴋɪɴɢ ꜰᴜʟʟ-ᴛɪᴍᴇ can be a smart idea, but it can also be very difficult.

That is the situation I find myself in. I work all day, then come home to work on my business.

The truth is though, it doesn't much feel like work. 𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐟𝐮𝐧, 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠. I am doing something bigger than myself and providing service in the world.

On the other hand, though, it can be a trap filled with minefields. From time factors and capital to those that would rather see you fail, there are a lot of reasons why a prudent strategy can come in handy.

First, make plans ahead. Instead of walking in the dark, learn and ꜰᴏʟʟᴏᴡ ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ ꜰᴏᴏᴛꜱᴛᴇᴘꜱ ᴏꜰ ᴛʜᴏꜱᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ᴛʀᴜꜱᴛ ᴀɴᴅ ᴀʀᴇ ᴀʟʀᴇᴀᴅʏ ᴀᴄᴄᴏᴍᴘʟɪꜱʜᴇᴅ. Create a budget and start sourcing for capital.

Next, program your mind to the right mindset. Obstacles should be expected, so don’t throw fits when life slaps you with hurdles.

With another added responsibility, this calls for prioritization. This means that you should 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝗯, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆, 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆.

Even when the burden feels extremely heavy, remain focused and remember the outcome will be fruitful.

During this last year, I have become masterful at balancing all these balls and sometimes, making it look effortless. It takes a lot of planning and organizing, commitment and follow-through. Even when you just don't FEEL like it!

The bottom line, it all will come down to how prepared you are. ᴍᴀᴋᴇ ᴘʟᴀɴꜱ, ᴅᴀɪʟʏ, ᴡᴇᴇᴋʟʏ, ᴍᴏɴᴛʜʟʏ ᴀɴᴅ ᴇᴠᴇɴ ꜱɪx ᴍᴏɴᴛʜꜱ ᴀʜᴇᴀᴅ. ꜱᴄᴀʟᴇ ᴀɴᴅ ɢʀᴏᴡ ᴛʜᴇ ʙᴜꜱɪɴᴇꜱꜱ ᴀᴄᴄᴏʀᴅɪɴɢ ᴛᴏ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴇɴᴇʀɢʏ, ᴛɪᴍᴇ ᴀɴᴅ ʀᴇꜱᴏᴜʀᴄᴇꜱ. You might want to launch big and leave corporate life behind. Or you might just want some extra income in the short term.

Whatever your reasons and goals for starting a business, 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 when you are still working full-time while running a business.
